How It All Began
Just signing up to the gym was one of the biggest challenges that I've ever faced. I've always been bigger than I care to admit, and after years of having issues with my weight and health, getting over that first hurdle and entering the unfamiliar surroundings of my local sports centre was really hard for me to do. The only way to describe it was that I felt like an outsider, a fraud, and that I didn't belong. So it's been a while since I last blogged. Until just a now it had been even longer since I'de stepped foot in the gym. Today was my first day back after falling and badly spraining my ankle five weeks ago. When I first had the fall I made the sensible decision to keep away from any vigorous activity for a week or two as I didn't want to upset the healing process, and as I'de broken the routine I had initially built up for myself, I found myself using it as an excuse for a little longer than I needed to. I started getting into fitness just a little over a year ago. Although it had taken many years of looking in the mirror and hating what I saw, I finally found myself in the right frame of mind to be able to do something about it. I joined a gym, I changed my eating habits, and I started to look at myself and my body in a whole different way adding lots of sportswear and gym clothes to my wardrobe.
