Once In a Lifetime

Once In a Lifetime

No matter what you do in life, no matter what you like or dislike, their will always be one memorable feat that will never be repeated. on the 9th July 2016 in the bodybuilding/powerlifting world we saw just that, a feat that i genuinely do not believe will ever be beaten. Eddie Hall deadlifted 500kg yes that is right five hundred kilos. At the first direct arena in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Eddie Hall deadlifted one thousand one hundred pounds. Thus beating his 2015 world record of 462kg by 38kg, that is almost a plate (20kg) per side! in just one year to be able to lift this much more is just incredible, i for one have been stuck on a 220kg deadlift for the past 2 years haha.

So many people said this was impossible, not just difficult or un probable but impossible, but Eddie did just that, the impossible. It does just go to show that no matter what you do, or where you come from, anything is possible if you set your mind to it and that is what Eddie Hall did, he put his all into been the best he could be.

Unlike bodybuilding where every measurement on the fat caliper matters, powerlifting is all about that weight, what you can lift on that day to get those 2 green lights and get an ‘all clear’ lift.

After the event Eddie Hall said "I don't want to do it again but if it comes to the point where somebody breaks it, hell...I may just do.

"It's that great feeling, Like the first man on the moon, the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. And now I'm the first to deadlift half a ton. It's history and I'm very proud to be a part of it”

"The World's Strongest Man title is my dream. And I will keep pushing the limits until that happens. It's going to happen."

The full video of Eddie Hall breaking his own world record can be seen here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9Y4o_BqC0A Here you can see Eddie Hall wearing just lifting straps, compressions gym shorts and a bodybuilding rag top, no other help or support just sheer might and determination is all he needed to accomplish this amazing feat.

When things like this occur, it inspires millions to be better, to do better, in just 24 hours his video on youtube had been seen by over 3.4 million people as well as been re uploaded by hundreds of different people, companies and streaming sites so will of grossed easily over 5million people within that 24 hour period.

Even though I predominantly am a bodybuilder and go to the gym in my gym shorts and gym vest, hoping to stay lean and continue to gain mass, focusing more on the contractions rather than the weight, it really did inspire me to want to lit more.

Any way that I can be remembered and have my name live on so that I am remembered, i want to do and Eddie Hall has done just that. The first man in human history to deadlift 500kg, half a tone, one thousand one hundred pounds. Maybe the only man ever that will be able to do this. I genuinely think the only person who will be able to beat this will be Eddie Hall himself.

This same feat can be carried into any walk of lift however, showing that anything is possible weather you are a designer wanting to hopefully design the best gym shorts or a bodybuilder or scientist who is looking to develop the latest and greatest way to measure body fat to improve the currently most conventional way of using a body fat caliper. You can do anything you want, if you want it bad enough you just have to want it bad enough.

Gym Fit Dad Posted by Gym Fit Dad

I am a modern day superhero (in the eyes of my child) who likes to lift heavy and enjoy life, please read my blog as I take you into my mind as I try to keep the scales of life balanced between been a fun dad and fiancee whilst still not looking out of place whilst wearing gym shorts and vests. Doing so means that I often have to measure body fat allover my body using a skinfold caliper to keep my mind at bay as I fear sometimes if I am not going forward, i am going backwards.
