Remember What Works
We are all individuals, we have different goals, different lifestyles, different mentalities, different goals, different dreams. With all of these differences in the equation, we can not expect something that works for a celebrity, IFBB pro or even a friend to work the same for you as it does for them.   Even something like a pre workout formulation, you may take one particular brand and you may swear by it however it may not provide the same effects to your friend, or it may simply not agree with your friend. Because of this, what I would say from my years of experience, living and..

We are worlds apart
Us gym-goers get a lot of stick for being ‘vain’, ‘superficial’, ‘self-obsessed’, as having no life, being sad and too restrictive. But I for one was never one to pay attention to the opinion of others because they aren’t me and they don’t live in my head. The non-gym goers, the anti-exercise and clean-eating police don’t know our motives, they are nothing like us. You see we push the heavy weights, we drink the protein shakes, we avoid the dirty Saturday nights on the town because we are busy building ourselves rather than tearing ourselves down. We create positivity internally and externally..

Steady State Cardio versus High Intensity Interval Training
Yes, it’s that dreaded word, the one I’ve come to fear and often hate. The big bad CARDIO, (as I scream profanities CT Fletcher style in my head while reminiscing on times of faster metabolisms and tiny micro stretch gym shorts). You know that style of training many of us detest because it’s often boring as hell and unrewarding as I’ve discussed in previous blogs. However, we all know it’s not completely unless (although unless its sports specific I’d beg to differ), sometimes it allows the weighing scales to be your friend and you might even feel a little healthier and happier but s..

Spring/Summer 2016 collection
Right now in a very interesting and exciting time for us all at http://bigredapparel.co.uk this is now our fourth spring since starting a few years ago with just a single sku in our catalogue (men's black stringer vest)     Since this time, our catalogue has grown rapidly and despite our ever growing number of products available to our site, we are always looking to develop existing products (like the change of how our logo is printing on our micro stretch gym shorts, they were printed using traditional screen printing methods however the type of fabric used on the shorts me..

Have we become an era of unhealthy obsessions?
Everywhere you look obsession is staring you in the face, some positive and some not so well.  We have become a nation obsessed with looking good, from men pumping steroids and consuming masses of food to become bigger, to women living with the sole purpose to be lean. Food is no longer just food, every morsel that enters people’s mouths is weighed and analysed.  Macro’s macro’s macro’s. I never remembered being obsessed with the weighing scales when I was a teen and I certainly don’t remember fixating about calories. Gym’s, training and sports were all happier things to be part of t..

Health And Fitness
With the first week of spring upon us, it was only a matter of time before the traditional flu symptoms begun setting in. This year however it hit me harder than ever, unfortunately for me, like most of my friends, I do not really appreciate my health until I am without it. It is only when I am unhealthy that I begin taking in the right amount of liquids and also taking multi vitamins, when it is already too late.   The flu I had this year was the worst I have ever had it though, i spent days and nights in bed sweating and shivering at the same time, sleeping in gym shorts and a gym..

knowledge is power
When I started training, I was not the strongest person. Infact I was in for a rather large shock when I first stepped into a proper gym. The first gym I went to for the first month into my experience, they only had machines and dumbbells upto 10kg and as any of you guys and girls will know, when you are using machines instead of free weights, it is a totally different experiance. It is as if comparing swimming shorts to running shorts. Though the 2 items are still shorts, the way they look, perform and function are totally differant. On a free weight you may be only able to do a fifth or..

How It All Began
Just signing up to the gym was one of the biggest challenges that I've ever faced. I've always been bigger than I care to admit, and after years of having issues with my weight and health, getting over that first hurdle and entering the unfamiliar surroundings of my local sports centre was really hard for me to do. The only way to describe it was that I felt like an outsider, a fraud, and that I didn't belong. I've never had much confidence and I found myself constantly comparing myself to other people, so the thought running on a treadmill next to some girl who looks like she just stepped out..

All good things must come to an end!
When we at http://bigredapparel.co.uk decide to bring a product to market, we do our best to research the product in as much detail as possible before hand. This is based on numerous factors such as the product itself, the shipping implications such as packaging and costs both to us then to you as the end user and also demand, just to name a few.   We have brought literally dozens of products to market over the years as you can see from our extensive catalogue, all products so far that we have brought to market, we have kept in stock and if a product was not as popular as anticipate..

Hi, my names GymFitDad and I’m an addict… part 1
Though my life, I have had many hobbies and interests ranging from petrol RC cars to camping, all of these hobbies and interests to date have been something I have enjoyed massively at one stage or another in my life however over time, I have afforded less and less time for them and eventually given up completely when either something else came along or I simply lost interest.   Fitness for me however has been a total game changer, from the first day that I went to the not so local community centre gym to begin lifting weights with my friend Darren, I was addicted. The walk to this ..
Eat more to Lose Weight
Eat more to lose weight. Yes, you heard me and no I’m not going crazy. So listen up and hear me out please, after that you can scream at me if you like. Firstly, let’s talk about exciting things like calories, macro tracking, metabolism and hormone regulation. Our body is a glorified engine (only we look much better in gym shorts and other sportswear/workout clothes), compare us to your average automobile if you must- it’s not going to run without diesel or petrol is it? So why would you expect your body to. Likewise, you overfill an engine and it’s going to seep right out. Just like your b..

Why I love fitness
Fitness and health has never been so popular, in recent years we have quickly transitioned from been the social outcasts and referred to as ‘picky eaters’ and ‘health crazed’ to the ‘new normal’ nowadays most restaurants show the calorie content of everything from their pepperoni pizza to the house red, everything is quantified so that even when people ‘cheat’ on their diet they can do so in a calculated way. Maybe even an IIFYM (if it fits your macros) style diet?   What used to be such a niche market is now embraced by almost every high street store and supermarket, I think you wo..

Our goals for 2016
2016 marks the third year that we at http://bigredapparel.co.uk have been in business,  in this time we have grown our catalogue from just a single product; our signature series black mens stringer vest to include now several dozen product options.    The choice to begin stocking these products has not just been from the staff here at Big Red Apparel but also from our customers, family, friends and sponsored athletes. During this time we have had to make a lot of decisions, some of them more costly for others but it has all been part of our experience to build us into the ..

You're nothing like me
Who am I? Who are you? Who are we? Why are we all so different? What makes you succeed while others fail? What makes one achieve goals while the other makes excuses? Question after question, night after night. What, why, how, when. We have all been there, you know the sleepless rainy Tuesday night when you lie awake wondering what makes you 'You'. What boxes do you thick and why don't you fit into others. Why am I so different? Let's be honest nobody really knows the answers, we're all just paddling along striving for something we think we want, some vision of ourselves in the back on ou..

Where's the gains at?
Hitting the gym like 'Rocky Balboa', eating like 'The Rock', sleeping like a baby but noticing no changes? Annoyed, pissed off, loosing your mind because you don't know what's going wrong or why you? Is it genetics or are you doing it all wrong?   Foremost I'd like to tell you it's not genetics unless you suffer from a muscular disease. Yes everyone progresses at different rates, some faster than other. So stop hating on your friend who only has to look at weights and gets instant gains.   Ever question if it's your technique? Sets, repetitions, rest time, movements and s..
